You’ve heard it before. Things like “This was the best class ever. I learned so much. When I get back to work, I am going to do things differently.” Noble and sincere intentions but the bottomline is that more often than not, investment in training fails to produce the desired results.

Why is that?

There are a number of factors that can contribute to this lack of results. Some of these could include:

Clear expectations not established with Learners or Managers prior to training
Training not focused on practical application of targeted knowledge and skills
Learners not given opportunity to apply knowledge and skills to their work
Lack of reinforcement following the training

This last one is really important to understand. Industry research has shown that what happens after the training event can be even more important that what happens during that event. But companies typically spend 80-90 percent of their expenditure for learning on the training event and what happens during it. This leaves very little to investment in the other two learning phases … which are both important to learning transfer.

The result is often “Learning that Does Not Stick”

At Yukon Learning, our mission is to help you “Make Your Learning Stick.”

So how do we do that?
